Guest Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 before you waste $50 on wood and a lot of time, mock up a box with cardboard to see if it will fit well. the sub likely doesn't handle rated power (because its power acoustik) that's why it gets stinky.

Will do. Didn't plan on starting without actually testing. But, from what I've heard, the Mofo was about the only Power Acoustik sub that isn't highly overrated and doesn't fry up quickly. I would bet clipping was the culprit. I'm sure the sub will handle what his amp can produce "clean". 2010 F150 FX4-18" AA Mayhem-Crescendo BC3500d-Pioneer GM-D9500F 4-channel-2 Crescendo FT1 -2 Crescendo Neo Forte 6.5 -Pioneer AVH-P3300BT-6000K HID Headlights/Fog lights-All LED interior lighting-20% tint on front windows, 1% rear windows, 5% windshield strip-Big3 (XSFlex 0ga) -DC Power 270XP -Group 65 NorthStar AGM battery Coming soon/plans: -Build log-Blacked out mirror reflectors-Tinted tails/3rd brake light

I haven't noticed the smell since I turned Bass Boost off, gain down, and set SSF. This will be laughed at, but I had SSF off and LPF all the way up. Current Setup: 2002 Ford Focus SE (stock electrical) -Kenwood Excelon KDC-X397 -Infinity Kappa 6x9's in each door -Rockford Fosgate Prime R1200-1D -2 12" Rockford Fosgate P3D2 Backups: -12" Power Acoustik Mofo-122X in 36hz T-Line box -Soundstream Piasso P1.1200D
Hifonics Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 I knew there was something funny there. How does it sound now? Where do you have everything set now? 2010 F150 FX4-18" AA Mayhem-Crescendo BC3500d-Pioneer GM-D9500F 4-channel-2 Crescendo FT1 -2 Crescendo Neo Forte 6.5 -Pioneer AVH-P3300BT-6000K HID Headlights/Fog lights-All LED interior lighting-20% tint on front windows, 1% rear windows, 5% windshield strip-Big3 (XSFlex 0ga) -DC Power 270XP -Group 65 NorthStar AGM battery Coming soon/plans: -Build log-Blacked out mirror reflectors-Tinted tails/3rd brake light
dawgs007 Posted August 14, 2014 Author Report Posted August 14, 2014 I knew there was something funny there. How does it sound now? Where do you have everything set now? Somehow, everything sounds fairly similar to how it did with bass boost up and gain a little higher. Not sure how that makes sense, but that's how it is luckily. Still doesn't hit the low notes as hoped, but that was expected. SSF ~26hz LPF ~90hz (not 100%) Gain ~40-45% Master (not slave obvi.) Bass Boost ~0 Phase 0 degrees (I believe it's 0 or 180) Current Setup: 2002 Ford Focus SE (stock electrical) -Kenwood Excelon KDC-X397 -Infinity Kappa 6x9's in each door -Rockford Fosgate Prime R1200-1D -2 12" Rockford Fosgate P3D2 Backups: -12" Power Acoustik Mofo-122X in 36hz T-Line box -Soundstream Piasso P1.1200D
Hifonics Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 Seems legit. Box time! Just remember to stock up on beer before the build . dawgs007 Posted August 14, 2014 Author Report Posted August 14, 2014 Quick question, my amp (Soundstream Picasso P1.1200d) has a switch on it to toggle input sensitivity between either 100mV-2V or 2V-8V. My head unit (Kenwood Excelon KDC-X397) has 3 pre-amp RCA outputs, all of which are 4V. Should I have the switch on 2V-8V? It is currently on 100mV-2V. Current Setup: 2002 Ford Focus SE (stock electrical) -Kenwood Excelon KDC-X397 -Infinity Kappa 6x9's in each door -Rockford Fosgate Prime R1200-1D -2 12" Rockford Fosgate P3D2 Backups: -12" Power Acoustik Mofo-122X in 36hz T-Line box -Soundstream Piasso P1.1200D
Guest Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 kenwood will output max voltage around volume 33. but thats useless if you have your headunit powering your speakers, because the internal amp clips at anything over like 26. so keep it where it is if your stuff is hooked up like this.
