Cj Kumz Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 How many amps from the alternator is required to charge the battery?? Reason for the question is I wanna get a 200-240 amp alt but want battery backup too, but wanna know the limit of how many batteries I can have in the back without over working the alt. Also I don't wanna be charging batts off the car.. Any info will be appreciated. ChevyBoy95 Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 You could add 20 batteries if you wanted. You just have to understand, it takes power to make power, once your voltage is down, you will have a long charging period. With a 200-240a alt and a battery or 2 in the back, you would be fine running 3500-4000w without worrying about anything.
