Subwoofer Stokes Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 I have a sealed box for 2 12" subs that is 1.5 cubic feet to each chamber that I want to do aero ports on. I have some pvc pipe that is 3 7/8" internal diameter. The box is a wedge box and i have the subs inverted. The aero ports will be mostly external so i wont take up volume. I plan on having 1 3 7/8" x 20" aero port in each chamber which should give me around 30-32 hz. Im thinking about flaring just the external part of the ports, Ive watched a few videos on Youtube on how to flare pvc pipe, but I would like to know what are the benefits of flared aero ports? Will this make much difference in my tuning? please help! <p>Black 1997 Chevy C1500 Ext. Krakin Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 For SPL purposes internal flare > external flare Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Krakin Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Please refer to this thread.
