dsw422
hey guys. im building a box this week. it's gonna be 36inches wide, 16inches tall, and 13inches deep. It is beild built for a pair of 2002 kicker comp c10s. The total cu.ft. is 3.25. I want the tuning to be between 38 and 40htz... box will have a single L port on the right side. Port height is 14.5inches.. question is... How wide of a port do i need? Like is 3 inches to narrow, or is 7 inches to wide, ect...? thanks so much guys 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Ritch40
with kicker the first question is.........what amp will you be using and whats its output at the impedence you plan to run it at? with kicker in a ported box you need to be very careful how hard you hit them. If its rated for say 1000 watts and you hit it with a true 1000 watts in a ported enclosure your liable to not be pleased when the subs die. Kicker themselves will tell you that. dsw422
I'm using an autotek 1500.1... the subs are 4 ohm.. they will be wired down to 2 ohms... so realistically, they will b getting around 500 watts max.. the subs manual says 125 watts rms in a ported enclosure at 1.5 cu.ft. each.. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/

Joe X
Then you will benefit of a lower tuning than 38 Hz or more, Also what's the exact model of that amp?

Ritch40
I am fairly confident that the amp you have wont do rated(probably not even close from what i have recently seen out of your amps big brother)
dsw422
Yea, I kno I doesn't do rated.. i based it's output on the video that steve did on amp test Tuesdays crunch test.. it's the same company that makes em both.. amp will b upgraded one day.. I'm just looking for what width I should make the port on the box.. thanks 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Joe X
So here is a suggestion, power: to sub(s) rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 3", figure is just an assembly guide, no need to do any of the 45s shown:NOTE: If building outside you may need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside. The tuning (Fb) is my recommendation for low tuned music. Any changes let me know.
