Audio Boffins
Got myself two used 18" 12 spoke baskets to make some dc xl m1 subs into 18" matching pair subs. Ones silver and ones black, so I want to have them blasted and powder coated. What's the best way to clean off the old spider and cone leftovers? And should I be aware of anything to prevent damagin them when cleaning, blasting, or powder coating?
audiofanaticz
To remove old glue, the quickest and easiest way Ive found is a right angle grinder with a 50-60 grit flap disc (not a grinding disc)! Still have to be careful not to gauge the baskets or grind down too far, just so the metal is bare and clean and removed of the old glue and speaker parts. If your getting the baskets powder coated chances are the company has a sand or bead blaster and will use that prior to actually powdering the baskets.
