timewarp Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Iam slowly getting everything for my s10 . I am now to where i need to decide on the electrical side some . I have a sundown 1500d and a MB-Quart OA800.4 ( might get a different 4x100 amp ) What size Battery can i put in the s10 with a little modification ( bigger then the group # 75 it calls for ) ? I did a small alt upgrade when i got the truck so it has a 145 amp alt now . Battery is stock . Will i be fine with a 250 amp alt. and 1 good battery for under the hood , or get 2 batteries first and use the 145 amp alt for now ?
zydrix Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 In my 98 s10 I could fit a group 34 in there with no mods, an I have a 240a mechman alt. I see that being ok for your electrical. sphinxbccp Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 What year? If it's a second gen, you can fit a d3400 in the front with a small amount of cutting to the battery tray. timewarp Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 Ok mines a 2001 , i was looking at the 240 mechman and a d3400 if i just need battery up front , Or was considering 2 Deka Intimidator 9A78DT . 2 d3400 is out of my price range .
timewarp Posted September 15, 2014 Author Report Posted September 15, 2014 I got my 0 gauge ofc in now , But still not sure if i need a 2nd battery . Reading thru posts , it seems on s10/blazer i can either run thru the frame or somehow to under the heater box near antenna grommet to inside . Is one way safer then the other ?
sphinxbccp Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 I have 8 runs of 0ga through the fire wall on the passenger side of my blazer, no problems and can't even tell it's there. Your build was one i keep looking at and helped me decide to go ahead with the d3400 up front , It was hard to see from the pictures where you used the sheathing at to go down under the heater box ... That area had me worried. after i get the alt and the 3400 i 'll decide if i need a battery in the back . The only thing i'd like to do after that is door panels for 2 sets of components .... I hope .
sphinxbccp Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 I just picked the most open area, I probably didn't need the heat sheath but it wasn't expensive and made feel a lot better about it!
