Can you tell if a ad244 Alt is upgraded by looking at it

I am not sure if any of the local parts stores here can test it correctly to tell , but i may see if i can run it down there . Its supposed to be a 240 amp / ad244 . Is there a way to tell if its upgraded at all ?

Upgraded alternators have a smaller pulley than stock to generate more power. Just look up the stock alternator of your vehicle and compare the pictures... IMO, that pulley looks small.

Thanks , I understand what your saying there. I thought maybe the picture of the regulator and rectifier would shed some light as to if that had been upgraded .

Depending on who built the alt that wouldnt show much since several companies still using techniques from the 90s still use stock parts, and claim an absorb amount of current from a rewound stator and under drive pulley.

It looks like it has a ground stud on the casing, which would lead me to believe its an aftermarket since oem does not do that.

But who built it, what kinda current does it claim to do, and what it actually does is all unknowns.

For some reason that alt screams Tenny. so watch out it may start on fire!

Thanks , I'll switch it out when and if i even get the system in my truck .
