Thuginfc Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 First lemme introduce myself. Hey guys I'm Rob, been lurking around on forums a bit lately but haven't posted. I drive a 2000 deville and just did a budget build in it. Kicker mids/highs Planet audio 1600.4 Power acoustic MOFO 15s Orion hcca 5000 watt amp It's in a 8 cube box ported around 32 hz Ill post build photos soon I'm having a problems with my mids and highs. I'll be listen to a song not even turned up half way and about 2 minutes into it my highs seem to fade away. Mids still there but highs and tweeters loose their punch. I still have stock tweeters plus a set of power acoustics maybe it's too much ohms on the amp with two tweeters plus the kicker 5.25 on each channel?? Help!! Highs should be so much louder!! When I first start the car up I can crank it and it screams to where it hurts my ears.

Norandaman555 Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Have you tried unhooking them and see if the problem stops? 2011 Chevy Malibu LT Hertz SQL Setup
Thuginfc Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 When I replaced my dash I did forget to hook up the pillar connectors but I quickly noticed there was no highs And reconnected them. I do have a couple sets of new tweeters I've wanted to install but wanted figure out the problems first. Short answer no I haven't tried without stock tweeters
islandpride684 Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 How are your mids and highs wired? Series or parallel? And what ohms are your speakers? How did you set your gains? Thuginfc Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 Parallel. I was thinking that the stock tweets are 10 ohm. Plus a 8 ohm tweet and a 4 ohm mid. But I think my power acoustic tweeters are 4 ohm so that would be less than 2 at the already weak/cheap amp.
Thuginfc Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 Tomorrow I'll be installing some 6x9s in rear deck so guess I'm running another amp. One just for highs/tweets. One for mids. And of course one for subs.
