Help with wiring Subs up to amp.

I have a question similar to Power Man. I'm running one sundown X-12 (dvc 2 ohm) and a sundown scv-1500 monoblock amp. I've never hooked up a mono block before & was concerned. But if I want the amp to pull 1 ohm load, should I

(1) wire both coils of the sub to 1 ohm first and have two wires connecting on amp (or would amp make sub pull .5 ohm).

(2) wire each coil to separate input of amp (having four wires on amp)

Thanks

connect the + to + and - to - on the sub. then connect the + from the sub to the + on the amp then the - on the sub to the - on the amp

that will give you a 1ohm load, your amp can handle that just fine.

set your gains right! if you don't know how to wire a sub odds are you don't know how to set a gain. do some research on that... gain doesn't = volume!

Ya... what he said above. Nice ass equipment to not know how to set it up or use google search or RF wiring wizard to figure out. Find someone to help you set the gains before smoke happens!

Thanks, but I understand how to wire the sub to get 1 ohm (did that when I got sub). Just was concerned if amp would see a lower ohm load since it was internally parallel wired. just never had a mono amp, always stereo or multi channel.

Thanks also bcbrass. As stated, just didn't know if amp would create a lower ohm load by parallel wiring the sub my (#1) question. That's why I asked about (#2) and wiring each coil to a separate amp input.

I was referring to the OP.

his name is Frydaddy.... so its either irony or a omen... Lol.

but no the amp won't change anything. unless you strap. there's a reason its called a mono block amp (1 channel) even if it had 4 sets of inputs there all connected inside to the same "bus bar"

a 2 or 4 channel would be different. they would share the load... so if it was a 2 channel bridged at 1ohm each channel would see .5ohm

this also happens when you strap amps together...but enough thread jacking for now.

(this is how i have mine set up right now) most mono block amps have a pair of inputs usually laid out like ++ -- i ran 8g wire from the first coil to the first set of +- then the second coil to the remaining +- this will give the exact same ohm load as connecting at the subs push terminals. i don't think there's a plus or neg to it. yea there's more wire for power to be pulled but there's also more resistance. the wires are the exact same length.

just saying the option is there.

oh try to avoid the screw in terminal houses for boxes when you can. for giggles i tested the Lil push term resistance on my boys prefab that houses his 3 jl w3s and they were .8 ohms each! holy hell! I'm sure there all different but i bypass them when i can

Thanks, that exactly what I was looking for. Oh, I took half my last name (Fryar) & just stuck Daddy on it over 20 yrs ago. But thanks again for all who responed.

i was just busting you balls Man. but we Do have

allot of people that come in and say "my subs get stinky but my gain is only half way up"

or "I'm adding a third sub, should i turn my gain the rest of the way up?"

so when we see a new member ask about wiring and some of the more basic questions (which is fine nothing wrong with asking) we Try to include some gain awareness in there. that way they don't come back and say "i wired like you told me and my subs went up in smoke a week later"

also never use bass boost!

ever!
