Guest
If you want an exact number I can go measure it but like I said before, plenty of width and height to work with.
MaxMays
Pioneer Stage 4 TS-W252PRS subwoofers are on sale. These are very good with regards to SQ. Also Morel makes really good SQ subs, but are expensive. JBL's GTi MKII series of subwoofers are known for great sound, and could be found within the 400-700$ range.Pioneer- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSW252P/Pioneer-Stage-4-TS-W252PRS.html JBL's - http://www.woofersetc.com/c-23-subwoofers.aspx?manufacturerid=86&frommenu=true&pagenum=2& Morel - http://www.woofersetc.com/c-23-subwoofers.aspx?manufacturerid=106&frommenu=true I've personally used the Gti MKII 10' subs but i went through about 4 different amps before finding the right sound. And the amp i chose was rather expensive for the outcome.
gckless
That's a big box. How loud do you want to be exactly? What vehicle is this going in? I'd go with a T-line here. You could do a pair of 12's, a single 15, a single 18, or probably even fit a pair of 15's in a T-line with that much room. These would be sweet in a T-line: http://creativesound.ca/details.php?model=SDX12%20Promo Wouldn't take up all your space (works out to roughly 15 cubes in a quarter wave T-line tuned to 21Hz (the Fs of the subs)), right at your budget, works well for power, and they are XBL^2. Guest
I've heard good things about Morel, but I am not sure about JBL or Pioneer. The JBL MKII looks good, but is it not overpriced at all? Almost $400 bucks for seemingly just a name brand sub that can only handle 700wmrs. Forgive me if I am wrong. Those JBLs are really nice. 700W RMS is kinda a joke. The topology of those motors is different from most, and they take a lot of power. There's a dude that was feeding one 2000W in infinite baffle. Also makes them sound very good. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. Guest
Those creative sound subwoofers looks pretty nice. I wasn't able to find their rms capacity on their website though. How are the reviews on those things? They look to be built similarly to the Fi Q, am I wrong? And although I probably could fit a pair of 15s in my car, the box for those would eat up all my trunk space. So I would rather stick to a single 15", a pair of 12s or four 8s. Thanks! MaxMays
I was running around 700watts on each sub(x2) , you really don't need anymore if you're only looking for sound quality. It came down to the box size though. I wouldn't recommend running these ported. Reverse mounted in a .6 cubic foot box.
Guest
I think I will pass on the JBL.
MaxMays
A 15inch subwoofer is honestly the best bang for buck. But you sacrifice space if you don't have a large trunk. Alot of heavy bass and even with premaid enclosures like groundshaker, they give you a nice size box that will work for many different subs. A basic Kicker CVR 15' sounded really good when i first started with mobile audio. But yea, the 2 JBL's were by far the nicest sounding subs i've had to date, then again it was the most expensive setup too lol.
