Wiring question

Recommended Posts

--too me, or what I think that's making me confused about the situation is like this.. If the front battery is asking for the alt to be charged and the back batts also ( if they were both connected to the alt) can a alternator support 2 differnt charging voltages or are they all like twined at the same voltage either way ? I was thinking the back batteries would be the ones starving since they are right near the amp

no an alternator cant support 2 different unless they are in the same field like a 2 12v battery. but trying to charge a 16v battery and a 12v on the same alt will not work unless you use a step down module.

the 2 batteries voltage are combined together. so if they are wired parallel if the front battery has 12.8 than the back battery should read 12.8 also or extremely close depending on the type of wire and/or how many runs of wire. so to answer you question should run another wire from the alt to the back battery. yes you can, it could help the system. just don't forget to fuse it for safety
