I understand wiring in series and wiring in parallel. But can someone explain wiring series/parallel and explain the pros and cons of wiring subs in that manner.

its just gives you the ability to wire multiple speakers/subs at a certain impedance depending on what final load you want your amp to see...but if you need to understand more, here you go:
