moredbs Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 i think the info given above should answer your question, just gotta do the math.
Jeff4661 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 A while ago I found this somewhere and I immediately save the whole thing as a no and kind of atoms it in my own way so I can more understand what they're trying to say so every time I am curious about a driver spec I look at this list and it gives me a brief summary I figured a lot of people could find us in this information Current build 05 Yukon SLT http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195350-jeffs-05-yukong-wall-build/
Jeff4661 Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 If that wasn't a copy/paste... you need some sort of poster of the day award. Great info. It was a copy paste from my phone I actually pulled it off my laptop a while ago though I actually hand wrote it all out before I got a smartphone so that way I always have itAm very glad to help.... Hope everyone can learn something from this Current build 05 Yukon SLT http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195350-jeffs-05-yukong-wall-build/
TaylorFade Posted January 12, 2015 Report Posted January 12, 2015 A while ago I found this somewhere and I immediately save the whole thing as a no and kind of atoms it in my own way so I can more understand what they're trying to say so every time I am curious about a driver spec I look at this list and it gives me a brief summary I figured a lot of people could find us in this information The only piece I want to pick on is the DCR being the lowest you will ever see. That's not necessarily true. Nominal impedance (Znom) is a derivation of minimum impedance (Zmin).

Best plain language explanations I've seen. Sticky material. Although... I really hate the misnomer that Fs is the sole indication of how low a sub will play. It's one of the parameters that people think they understand and it's a major factor when people are "shopping" a sub. The main thing people need to understand is that these parameters are (usually) taken with a teeeeeeeny tiny amount of power relative to the way we actually use them. Big ass subs like we use have huge parameter shifts during stroke. Which is why you can do everything right modeling them up and building the perfect box and it may still sound like shit. I alluded to this in my 12" sub roundup because the DSS Ethos includes large signal parameters with it. Great subs shouldn't have much BL shift that affect the Qts, but even great subs will have resonance shifts.
