scooter99 Posted January 21, 2015 Author Report Posted January 21, 2015 That's the plan Keith. The problem is it's a 4g alt, and I'm seeing that the max on those is 300a and it's a freakin squeeze. SO I'll go that route, and I've emailed Mike so I'll see what he says when he has a chance. Dude is effing busy as hell right now with Autorama coming up. So I told him I'm nowhere near priority right now, so my alt is probably not going to even get touched until after that's done. But, that'll be good that's 670A. We just have to figure out the wiring part of it. I have ZERO clue on that, and I defer to Mike. But like I said I've emailed him on it. He'll school me when he has time. Gotta love ford!! Apparently the computer will tell the alternators to switch load back and forth if the second one is in there. There's even a TSB on how to eliminate the second one properly because if it is just removed, the first one will only work half the time or something. The glowplugs need 100A to warm up. In the winter it's more because they're on longer and unless you turn everything off, heater, radio, etc, then you're looking at more. Now, I don't think it's an issue with the 2 D6500's up there, but something about if the alts being powered while the glow plugs warm and burning them up or something. I don't know. Again, I have more research to do. In the long run, I guess really I could put the second alt on one of the DEI 528T Pulse Relay Timers, and then set it for like 20 or 30 seconds and that should really give the glow plugs plenty of time to warm up and start the truck. Once the truck is started it's all based off of load. I'm guessing if i have 24 of those batteries back there, there'll be a load all the time, but I don't know that for sure and if it even works that way. All questions that I've asked mike. scooter99 Posted January 21, 2015 Author Report Posted January 21, 2015 Oh sorry I forgot, also the bracket and the other chit that needs to go with it, the altered inlet tube for the turbo, wiring etc, is expensive as Fawk!! So that could be an issue, but I want it done right if I'm going to do it so it's all part of the cost of the build! Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
