Tuning a Tunnel

Recommended Posts

Hello all, Im new to the forum, so be gentle :P

Im looking into building my first tunnel for 10 Flex Audio 12s. Ive done walls, bandpass walls, and quite a few other high powered big projects. My daily is 4 OA 18s in a t-line b pillar wall in a burban.

i just wanted to try something new. I have only seen one tunnel in person and i have a few gen-ed questions.

It would be going in my daily, so i want it to still sound half decent.

1) are they (usually) ported or not? would the box ported in the back of the tunnel and come through the diamond? how would you go about tuning that? 4th? 6th? im really fuzzy here.

2) if they are not usually ported or it just simply doesnt work that way, would you tune the sealed side and tune your diamond to be kind of like a 4th order? again real fuzzy on how to make tunnels work..

any real help would be awesome.

thanks

Idk if this will help or not

But I think it could work in a ported style,4th or 6th..

Ported you would use the diamond as your port I think..

4th you would use the inside as your sealed and diamond as ported..

6th.. well u get the idea.

Just my thoughts. Hope this helps

got any pics/vids of the t-line b pillar?

I dont think i've seen anyone do a ported tunnel yet. No reason you couldnt do a hybrid tunnel/wall though maybe (tunnel on one side, wall-type port on the other side)? Tuning of a ported "tunnel wall" setup would be pretty standard I think, just pick a frequency and go. Adjusting the tuning is easy enough by adding/removing 2x4's on the inner leading edge of the port to make it longer for testing, can make it pretty later.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
