PDR master tech Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Hi guys. Main topic: So i have this amp, it's an entry level to mid range amp i believe. Slowly getting the sound shaping dialed in with the adjustments, looking to see if anyone has amp dynoed it yet. Curious to see if the CEA certification gets it close to rated power, and what thoughts others have of it. It has a 2 year warranty and was just under $300. Sub topic: Yes, the subs are low end and i got them from a barter trade deal, but the box is brand new. It's a transmission line pre fab that i bought becuase it fits really well in the dimensions of the trunk area, tuned to 34 hz with 1.8 cubic feet for each sub. By all means give me suggestions as to what subs would sound best in there, as subs are my next upgrade i think. Current subs are Planet audio and Audiopipe.
PDR master tech Posted February 14, 2015 Author Report Posted February 14, 2015 Hello again, Popping in to see if anyone has amp dyno tested the amp yet, (I love watching the amp dyno videos). The amps either fail miserably or perform better than expected. Really would love to see if Hifonics nailed it this time, or it's just the same as any subpar $300 amp. And on the subwoofer topic, as you can see, the box fits very well in the trunk area. Still researching what brand/model subs would be the best for the box, or if even starting over would be a better idea, I also have a brand new enclosure here at the house that has never been used. It's a single 12" ported enclosure with the following specs: Single 12" Vented Sub Box Mounting Depth: 15-1/4" Air Space: 1.60 Cubic Feet Vented Enclosure Dimensions: Width 18-1/4" x Height 13-1/4" x Depth 16-1/4" I'm torn between desiring the very deep rumble of a super low hz (20), and the very clean hard hit of a bass drum, either way i'd like it to pound, (large magnet subs seem the way to go). Sub suggestions would be appreciated. The box i currently am using is pictured here and specs are listed above in my first post. Let me know what you think would work best either way.
Triticum Agricolam Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 CEA rating is at 4 ohms and 14.4 volts, who knows what that amp does at 1 ohm. The box you have is NOT a T-line. Both boxes you described are on the smaller side for 12"s though there are still plenty of subs that will work. That question is probably better suited for subwoofer forum though. You need to let us know what your budget is too. ditto_ Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 The Amp Lab on youtube did a dyno of the brz2400.1 and it got close at 13.25 volts. I think 2100 rms. I'm sure the brz line is comparable to the x line. I have the brz2400.1 and it has been a well spent 289.

Looking forward to the amp dyno tests, it's performing pretty well for my application though, just a little more tweaking with the subsonic filter left. I'll save the subwoofer questions for the appropriate forum, thanks for your replies so far.

poorfish88 Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 When making a slot tuned box, sometimes tuning requires the port to bend. That's it nothing special here at all. Novel my ass, it's just a plain old ported box. Dam near every slot tuned ported I make th e port bends.
