Aaron Tuck TBA Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I just ordered 2 custom Build 12's from David at PSI. he's recommending 4.5 cubes after port tuned to 34hz. I'm in process of designing the box but was wondering what port area per foot should be. I was thinking around 12in^2 is this correct. 2000 Cavalier 4 doorXS D925XS D2400XS D31004 runs of 1/0 Mechman 270 2 DD 9515js
Triticum Agricolam Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Port area per foot is a rough over-simplification, sometimes it works out OK, but sometimes it doesn't. What's the xmax of the subs you are getting? How much power are you going to put to them? Aaron Tuck TBA Posted February 15, 2015 Author Report Posted February 15, 2015 56mm total xmax and ill be running a bc3500 at .5 for comp and 2 for daily. 2000 Cavalier 4 doorXS D925XS D2400XS D31004 runs of 1/0 Mechman 270 2 DD 9515js
Triticum Agricolam Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I'd shoot for around 80 sq in of port area. PSI lists their Xmax as peak-to-peak, which makes it look huge compared to the rest of the world that lists Xmax as one-way. So in reality its 28mm (which is still a lot). Aaron Tuck TBA Posted February 15, 2015 Author Report Posted February 15, 2015 my issue is my trunk isn't real big. im trying to make it so it will slide in through the back seat. larger opening than the trunk lid. im building for sub and port rear. so my dimensions are max 17high and 35 wide to fit through the opening. and figured a max of 22in deep to have room between baffle and trunk to breath. 2000 Cavalier 4 doorXS D925XS D2400XS D31004 runs of 1/0 Mechman 270 2 DD 9515js
