danc32212 Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 Hello I have a Hifonic Brutus X14 2600 wired to 1ohm on 2 massive audio summo 124. With the big 3. Once he got done with box and wired up subs and started to tune amp it hit twice And started smoking. It was done at shop , so my question is did he may be hook something up wrong? Do it need more power? And is the amp to small for those subs. I am just trying find out want could have went wrong for the amp to burn up so fast.
reedal Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 Could be anything. Hope you had a warranty. Did it do that at the shop? Did they offer a replacement of any kind? danc32212 Posted February 28, 2015 Author Report Posted February 28, 2015 Yes a shop did it but they didn't have anything close. And yes I have a warranty, had to send it back to where I ordered it.
reedal Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 I wouldn't trust that shop if the amp blew when they tested it. Improperly set gains could be a culprit. Maybe the somehow fucked up and switch power and ground inputs. Maybe it's just a shitty amp that was destined for failure. Good luck with your replacement. I would keep trying shops asking each how they set their gains and don't settle until you find one that uses an oscope or dd-1 SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
