Bronco Bass Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Ok first post on this site but not new to car audio. I have a 93 explorer that's my daily now. I listen to mostly classic rock so I want something that's responsive and reproduces it well. I was thinking a single 12 sealed I was looking at a 500watt Rockford sub but would something like a Pioneer be better bang for my buck. Its a 4 door so I have to figure out something for the doors. They are 6x8 cut outs but 6.5 coaxials fit. I was thinking 4 6.5 mids and 2 tweeters up front. Now my question would be if that would sound like dog shit in the back seats not that there's really ever anyone back there but just in case. Open to any suggestions not tryin to break the bank though my bronco dosent leave me with to much disposable income. Bronco Bass Posted March 21, 2015 Author Report Posted March 21, 2015 I was looking at some crescendo 6.5 pwxs for the doors
Skullz Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Pro audio sounds like ass when it comes to midbass if your even lucky enough to get it to produce any at all. Step up your budget and get a H/U with 4v preouts, think of it as an investment in the future for upgrading later on. RF P2's are awesome subs that perform very well, and would go with those instead of the P1 entry levels. Best bang for buck comps that can get a ton of midbass with a little bit of door prepping and sound good doing it until you want to step up your game. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-JBL-P660C-540-Watt-6-5-Power-Series-2-Way-Component-Speaker-System-6-1-2-/181550279649?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a453d6be1&vxp=mtr Amp for the comps would be a quality old school amp you can pick up on ebay for fairly cheap. Nothing wrong with budget builds as long as you know what to get and what works well for a given application. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Bronco Bass Posted March 21, 2015 Author Report Posted March 21, 2015 Hey man thanks for the reply I starting making the sub box for the trunk it's gonna be fiberglassed into the stock sub location I think I will end up going with the p2. Ill have to talk it over with my brother because we both have our own cars with our own systems but we share the explorer when one of ours are down. He will probably go for that and the component set. Thanks so much for your help
