Lanzar Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Howsit Guys Question related to Bassboost on my amplifer... I currently have 2 lanzar 6000D amplifiers strapped..... Ive read on many websites that one should not open the bassboost etc as this could cause distortion/clipping and burn woofers etc... the thing is - if i dont open that and just open the LEVEL as most people recommend.. i find the sound system to be playable but it doesnt pack that extra KICK that i want.... Steve what are your recommendations? has anyone else experienced this? what are your takes on Bass Boost? Thanks guys Also Ive read before that the LEVEL is to match the RCA signals going into the amplifier... and the BASS BOOST was the GAIN of the amp...so now im confused :S
reedal Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Level is gain, gain is level. Bass boost boosts the output of a specific frequency or small bandwidth (typically around 40hz) which would be ok if it was a clean output. You can try it and test it to see if it is clean. Use an oscilloscope or DD-1 and test tones from 35hz to 50hz, ensure output is clean to start, and then slowly turn up the boost until it starts to distort or clip the signal. I don't know anything about those amps so I won't judge on them, but your lack of output could just be from enclosure build/tuning errors. What subs are you running and what are the enclosure specs? Lanzar Posted May 11, 2015 Author Report Posted May 11, 2015 im using 8 15s lanzar optidrives 1532s on 2 6000d lanzar amplifiers. enclosure details are 820 x 820 x 250 by 2 boxes - V design Sealed enclosures due to space restrictions
reedal Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Is that in centimeters? And that's two sealed enclosures with those dimensions? What is your electrical like to power the amplifiers? They're supposed to put out 6000W @ 1ohm correct? So that's 12000 watts (in a perfect world) you're supposed to have pushing eight 15" woofers.
