Miguels Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 let me see the pulleys.. its odd not to see a tensioner on newer cars the tensioner goes bad with 3 belt removals my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
rfbasshead Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 What trips me out is it only does it when the voltage drops to like 12.7. It can hover at 12.9-13 and nothing. And when it does squeal the only way to stop it is by pausing the music. Literally pause not turn it down. Your alternator is cussing you out for maxing it out without the pulley spinning properly. You could send it back to mechman, but you might be out of shipping and time if it they don't find a problem with it thats funny. i literally lol
Miguels Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 that looks like a v belt not a serpentine belt.. if its a v belt thats going to be your problem my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
Ahmed Johnson Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 I think with one of those old manual tensioners you need to give it the exact tension the manufacture called for. The beautiful thing about auto belt tensioners are that an idiot like me can put the belt on gently, release the tensioner and the let the pulley take care of the rest.
rfbasshead Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 i just told the guy at auto zone i needed a 5 rib belt. how can you tell? and its not the stock bracket. the metal bar that the screw is on is one that i had to get made to get it to fit.
Miguels Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 it looks super thin. look at the thickness difference my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
rfbasshead Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 so it should be like a 1/4 inch thick?
Miguels Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 i could be wrong on the belt but yours looks thin over the GM or Ford my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
