bmxkid4 Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 I have a Sundown SA-12 and i want the box to be tuned to 33hz and 2^3 and i was wondering if someone could help me with the dimensions of the box and what aero port tube to use. I was looking at this http://www.parts-express.com/precision-port-4-flared-speaker-cabinet-port-tube-kit--268-352 but i dont know if its right. Im a newbie to aero port boxes
Triticum Agricolam Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 The problem with that port is one is not going to be enough. While Sundown doesn't give a recommended port area for their SA line of subs they do give numbers for the E-12 (28 sq in) and the X-12 (40 sq in) so the SA-12 should be somewhere in between. How much port area you will need will depend somewhat on how much power you are going to put to the sub. Depending on what amp you use you may be fine with two of those 4" ports, or you may need three. The next problem you are going to have is fitting those ports in the box. With two 4" ports they will need to be about 27" long to tune to 33 Hz. For three they would have to be 38" long, which probably isn't feasible.
