also what the point in having a 4 ohm sub?

Do you already have the subs? If not, buy two D4's to be able to wire 1ohm with a single 2200. If you have the D2's already, I'd still only buy one. You can either wire to .5ohm or 2ohm. But if you wire to half an ohm you better have some electrical to support the extra current draw and I'd suggest some external cooling to help with how inefficient it will be. If you buy two 2200's then I wouldn't set the gain with anything over a -5dB 40hz tone. 0dB would be best, those subs won't take 2200w for very long, I wouldn't give them more than 200 over rated each personally.

The point of different ohm subwoofers is the wiring options. If you have those two D2 subs, you can only wire them to 8ohm, 2ohm, and .5ohm. Two D4 subs allows 1ohm, 8ohm, or 16ohm wiring.

woah i didnt know you could have ll of the different wiring options. I thought d2s could be wired to 1ohm and d4s could be wired to only 2 ohms? could you please explain?

You can wire the voice coils in series, in parallel, or in series-parallel (series parallel requires at least two dvc subs) in series, the voice coils impedances are added together. In parallel, you take the reciprocal (1 divided by x, x being the impedance of the voice coil) of both voice coils, add them together, and get the reciprocal of the sum (example: 1/x = [1/x + 1/x]) and series parallel is a combination of the two. Wire the voice coils of both subs in series, and then put both positive wires of each sub in the amps positive speaker out, and both negative wires in the amps negative speaker out, and that completes the series-parallel circuit. Each of those gives you a different final impedance.

You should really look into www.bcae1.com to get you started. It has some good info. Also, in order to see how you can wire the subwoofers if you don't want to math, use the subwoofer wiring wizard at www.the12volt.com

Also, yes, a SINGLE D2 can be wired to 1ohm. But not two. Same for what you said about the D4. But multiple woofers means different final impedances. You would need either just one, or four D2 woofers to reach a 1ohm impedance. Two D4's will get you 1ohm.
