xAporia Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 I have had subs for a few years now and I really want to upgrade. I have a Rockford Fosgate T1D212 and I am going to get another one of those as well as the t1500-BDCP. I have no idea how to wire them, what to use to wire them, what head unit to get, and everything else. I am putting all of this in a new car and I really just want to get a decent system bumping. If anyone could help me out with this that would be awesome.
firebirdude Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 The Fosgate T1500 is a nice amp.... but heavily overpriced IMO. If you're getting an insiders deal on it or something, by all means. But heck, a Soundqubed 4500D will output more power than the T1500 at 2 ohm and is just as nice. Or sell the T1D2 version and buy two D4 versions and that 4500D will eat them alive. All for the same price. And that's just one example of many that would be more bang for your buck. Heck Mr Moneybags, upgrade to two 13" T2S2-13's with that soundqubed amp. It's over! lol As for how to wire them, Fosgate has the wiring wizard right on their website man. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/Support/WiringWizard.aspx Head unit? Well, that's up to you. What features are you looking for? How much are you willing to spend? What vehicle is this anyway? Year make and model please.
xAporia Posted July 23, 2015 Author Report Posted July 23, 2015 I'm getting a good deal on the T1500 because I refuse to pay $800 lol. Dodge Charger 2014 is the car I have right now.
afrakes Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 For $800 you could get a solid/reliable 2k amp plus a nice 15" woofer. For just an amp tho, especially with such minimal power output. Yeah, forget that. Vehicle: 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD WT Head Unit: Pioneer DEH- Mids/Highs: Focal Integration ISC 165’s (front) Subs/Amps: TBD
xAporia Posted July 23, 2015 Author Report Posted July 23, 2015 And wouldn't that amp blow my speakers because they are only 800 rms? Sorry if I ask stupid questions because I don't really understand everything yet.
reedal Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 Buying an amp that's rated for more than subwoofer RMS allows head room, making the amplifier more efficient by not working as hard and creating as much heat. When you set your gains properly, a 40hz -5dB tone would be ideal for a 2k amp on those subs rms, in my opinion. xAporia Posted July 23, 2015 Author Report Posted July 23, 2015 So would the T1500-BDCP be a good choice or bad? I know since its RF it will give me over 1500 but idk at 2 ohms. I know it's rated 1500 @ 2 ohms but will at power as much?
reedal Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 That would be just fine at 2ohm. xAporia Posted July 23, 2015 Author Report Posted July 23, 2015 Do you think I will need a battery or cap or anything?
firebirdude Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 If that's the only amp in your system.... you *might* be fine. Some headlight dimming is probably certain when playing at full tilt. A high output alternator or another battery is never a bad idea.
