Waterproof fuse block

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or knows of any products that would allow me to have 5-6 300 amp fuses under the hood in something thats waterproof without having e.g. 6 SHCA angled fuse holders scattered throughout. I've been looking around at some marine parts websites but can't quite find what I'm looking for.

I suppose if I really want it I may need to make it myself, so if thats the case anyone have any pics of something like that that a lay-person could fabricate on his own.

I guess a follow up question is does everyone use a fuse block or holder that is waterproof under the hood? I always have, but I've also never put this many fuses under there. Seems risky not to even though its unlikely to get wet, but I feel like I've seen some pics of people who use those toolmaker type blocks under the hood. Maybe I'm crazy and its not as risky as I think it is...

You could probably get away with any sort of block in Waco, but in the Syracuse,NY area where I am, anything under the hood better not be too reactive, ie; no aluminum. The fuse blocks I use are regular "glass filled" plastic that are essentially open air to ensure quick drying if they do get wet. It's the same thing as is used on heavy OTR trucks, boats, and heavy equipment. They aren't going to impress anyone when you pop the hood......until ten years later when you're popping the hood and still have the same fuse block.
