matt14
Run them active. As far as power goes, keep the gain turned down a bit when tuning if your worried about power. I have a ZED 6 channel..... 190rms per channel at 4 ohm. Tweeters are supposed to handle like 75 or 100. when i tuned i just kept it low on the tweeter channels. 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-
rumblefish
After listening to them set up passively I wired them up actively. I also have the imprint kit for my 9887. I haven't used the imprint in a while, so I figured I'd give it a shot. First, the amp has plenty of power for the active configuration. Also, while it has its flaws, (mainly lack of tuning options), the imprint tunes a whole lot better than what I can do. I still have some tweeking to do, but I must say I'm really enjoying these speakers. While my main focus when purchasing these was the midbass performance, I'd have to say my favorite part of the system is the tweeters. They are fantastic. 02 Tahoe, pioneer 880, quart qsd 216's, skar vvx 12's, sundown sax 100.4 and 1500dv2
CortezDTV
Why does everyone think the 9887 is active It can't bandpass only high pass or low pass That's great and all but you mids gonna get 30hz too..... rumblefish
Not trying to be rude, but you are wrong. It does indeed have a three way network. It certainly has the ability to band pass the mids. My crossover is setup up as follows: Subs lowpassed at 80@ 24 db, mids high passed at 80 @ 24db, and low pass at 2.5 kHz @ 24 db, and the tweeters are high passed at 2.5 kHz @ 24 db. Perhaps you are thinking of a different head unit. The 9887 has the ability to run in 3 way mode or a simple front / rear / sub configuration, which you are describing. 02 Tahoe, pioneer 880, quart qsd 216's, skar vvx 12's, sundown sax 100.4 and 1500dv2
