JKJ752 Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Hi I recently acquired a used SA-15 and it came with a box. It sounds decent now, however the box smells quite bad and I think a bigger box better suited for it would be better. The car the box is going into is a PT Cruiser and I have room for a box to be around 38 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 20 inches tall. If needed the box could be slightly taller or deeper but I would need to make sure it would fit first. I mostly listen to rock/metal and some pop/ top 40 songs and maybe a little bit of rap. The amp I am using is a Kicker zx750.1 wired to a 2 ohm load with a 25hz subsonic filter. Any feedback is greatly appreciated and if someone suggest a box design I will be sure to post pictures of the box after however it may not look the best as this will be my first box build so I will probably manage to mess something up. JKJ752 Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 The current box measures 21.25 inches wide 16.75 inches deep and 18.5 inches tall. It is a L shape slot port and the slot is 15.25*2 and goes 13.5 inches into the box before turning. Here is a picture of the box http://imgur.com/MhupJsO .
Joe X Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 So here is a suggestion, your previous box was about 2.3 net (from the data provided) which is well below minimum spec, the following will reach lower and be more efficient (so louder per watt) , power: to sub rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 3 1/2", figure is just an assembly guide: Any questions or changes, let me know.
