You'd be surprised how many boxes are tuned to the mid 40's. For the majority of music (all music, not just what people here like to listen to) a mid 40s tune isn't actually that bad and will usually result in a nice hump in the output in the 40s-50s region. For the people who only care about getting some bump in their ride, it will do that pretty well.

With that being said, I'd never tune a box that high, for a multitude of reasons. With either the american bass or soundqubed sub you are probably going to want to tune to the low 30s.

I was thinking something like 32 or 33. I love lows. My friend and I built a custom box for that hdc3 15 that was tuned to 32hz and i loved it. That thing was ridiculous.
