tayodell41 Posted October 31, 2015 Report Posted October 31, 2015 What kind of college degrees are out there that would get me a job in the audio feild? Not exclusively car audio, but maybe something like designing the audio systems for large homes, stadiums, or other commercial buildings? I'd love to get into a career in the sound field.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted October 31, 2015 Report Posted October 31, 2015 There are lots of things in the engineering field that could get you into the audio industry. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
mrd6 Posted October 31, 2015 Report Posted October 31, 2015 Systems engineering, acoustics, electrical engineering. Take some physics classes that will teach you about wave theory, sound propagation, diffraction, constructive/destructive interference, system resonances etc. If you really like the idea of designing/ installing high end systems, then a traditional 4 year degree may not be the best option. There may be some more targeted certifications or programs that would apply more directly. You could even go the electrician/technician route and try to get an apprenticeship somewhere applicable.
