Sub, seat back, and leather question with reference also to an SMD Lexus Video. Help Please.

Hey folks. Most of you know I'm never short of ideas when it comes to "what if's". Always thinking outside of the box. In this case literally.

So I'm thinking of making a sub enclosure for 4 - 10's. I have about 5.25 cu ft of air space after sub displacement. I'm planning to use aero port/ports. Port displacement is not factored into the 5.12 cu ft. The subs are AA-3.0v210's and they're rated around 1500 rms. I was looking at putting them on 2 AA-3800's.

So thinking about a truck box behind the seat right. think about it as if the seat padding were missing and there was nothing between the sub and the seat leather (I have leather seats), maybe just some space for excursion but no materials. Would sound travel through the leather ok?

My thought was to gut the seat back, then put grills in the seat back that would go over the subs to protect them from leaning against them. Then the padding around everything else would stay the same. Will maintain some comfort, functionality, and the oem look. In my head, the seat back will go over the top of the enclosure, and wrap around the front of it. This is what has me a bit concerned. In a regular truck enclosure, the enclosure is faced up to the seat and the sides are opened up. This would essentially wrap around the sides.

The seat back has an arm rest that folds out, I was thinking center port, and that could fold down to expose the port or ports.

The first person I thought about when I thought about this was Steve's Lexus with his 15. Here's a video (see it about 7:10). So it would be something along these lines in the end.

I'm confident in my idea, just not sure about the leather issue. I want to find out about that before I proceed.

leather does not breath.... even if you have small holes it will not pass air like cloth

That's what I figured. I needed to ask though.

In the end though, won't it act like a regular truck box? The wedge kind behind the seat of a truck seat. I mean on those, the subs aren't exposed through the seat. Just posing the questions.
