clipping, voltage drop and subsonic filters

Recommended Posts

I was clipping, having bad voltage drop and dimming lights

installed a subsonic filter and eliminated almost all of the voltage drop and light dimming

Question is...

If your box is tuned to 35hz like mine is, and you listen to lots of music that is lower than the tuning of your box, how does this effect amp performance?

I notice big drop in performance on the low end around 25-30 hz and this is when clipping seemed to happen.

I know this is common in ported boxes but its a prefab fox box and I cant change the tuning as far as I know.

I have new subs and a larger amp on the way. Im hoping more power and effeciency may play my subs louder and not strain my electrical system as much.

AM I wrong in this way of thinking?

Am I still going to clip if I overpower the subs and match gain my amps to subs?

I need lower than 35hz but dont want a new box since I already shelled out $225 for this one and need my back seat.

I see videos of this exact box on youtube and playing similar songs quite well.

SO im hoping there is a solution besides a new box
