koolcat Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Hi. I am currently running a 6awg wire to my amp from a wiring kit "scorche". I was going to install a battery today I'm the trunk due to head light dimming and I noticed the 80amp fuse near the main battery is MELTING. My amp is a kole audio hk980-2 two channel amp. It is wired down to 2 ohms pushing about 750 watts to a sundown sa-12 d4 rev.3 subwoofer. So I assume I need a thicker power wire. All the reviews for 0 and 2 and 4 guage on Amazon are very mixed with a lot of bad reviews. I purchased a kinetik 600 watt AGM battery to install in trunk. As well as multiple lightning audio 1/0 guage or 4 guage in line ANL fuse holder with 150 amp fuse for protection. Any suggestions on how to move forward? I must find a good reliable power wire. Thanks!
meade916 Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 there are lots of great brands. Choose a high quality OFC wire and make sure it is large enough for your system demands and the length of the run. As for which brand is the "best" we don't really do that here. I might suggest some XS Power or Rockford Fosgate wire. Those are VERY high quality and you can't go wrong. There are other brands that are good too. good luck.
