NorCalMike Posted February 26, 2016 Report Share Posted February 26, 2016 You can use a 4 pin on its own. Depending on what one it is it would be either 1 wire on the 4 pin plug or 2 wires. And I think only a cs-130d has 1 wire and all other are 2 wires. One wire goes to a dash light, which you can replace with a resistor. And the other is for voltage sensing. Which is how I believe that fancy 200 dollar mech-man voltage adjuster works, i think its just a potentiometer on the voltage sense wire to make the alternator think the voltage is lower than it actually is. But its easy to wire up. I swapped my cs130d (no voltage sensing) to a 3 wire 240A 12si unit from powermaster in about and hour including building a bracket.
