2015kiafortegdi Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Finished wife's Kia sounds great, now my good ol faithful suv. nice original 02 expedition loaded. drive15 min one way to work aday. completed first phase of system. she has kenwood dvd/nav unit, 4 jbl 6x8 (93sensitivity) and 2 jbl gti12s sealed to spec 1 cube a piece sealed and stuffed. sundown50x4 highs, sundown 2000 on the gtis, 240 alternator, dual optimas, 0 throughout, and you just wouldn't believe how gorgeous it sounds those little jbl highs/mids are screaming and its very musical. I have a 3rd gti 12 standing by which according to sundown wil drop me a tad under an ohm (.75-. and output should be about 2250- 750 per sub, but for NOW I want to optimize the two. I have tons of room, and just want it to sound great listening to pop/country/and a little "light" rap. anyone seen a good ported/vented design? yes I can read the manual jbl sent (2 cubes with 13.31x3" port- ...but was wondering if someone had a good sq/spl/general listening enclosure perhaps "better" than the sealed===sealed is very accurate, very punchy, but missing some of the low lows and bass guitar. suggestions?? thanks!!
Joe X Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 The first thing would be check placement of your box to see if you can get some extra as sealed sound quality is best, if not a smaller net low tuned ported box can retain some qualities of sealed while pushing up your low end quite a bit.
2015kiafortegdi Posted March 10, 2016 Author Report Posted March 10, 2016 I agree but you think the manufacturer's recommended would be best but I know there are companies building sq type products that are ported/vented that provide a lot cleaner lows yet maintain most the integrity of the 100HZ+ area, i was just seeing if anyone at a shop or a competitor had in the past had experience with this particular sub and it sounded killer in that specific enclosure.
