sicrides6
I've heard the term motor shifted referring to a blown sub what does this term refer to? My guess would be that the motor and basket came apart and shifted binding the coil But not really sure
audiofanaticz
A shifted motor has nothing to do with a blown woofer. But if it is shifted it can cause the coil to rub which will make the woofer blown. When a motor is shifted its typically from it being dropped, but sometimes glues do fail and that is also a cause. What it means is either the top plate or the bottom plate of the motor assembly is no longer lined up with the ferrite slugs. It is something that can be fixed but you will need to buy a new recone once the motor is fixed. Here are a couple pics.
