Yadaddy Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I'm putting together my first system and am looking for some advice as to which way to go .sound quality is important but I really just want to slam lows and be as loud as possible doing it. I'm torn between running 1 soundqubed hdc3 18 or 2 hds2 15s The 18 will be slightly underpowered. The amp I am planning to use is a rockford fosgate prime 1200.1D The box will be custom built by me with a slot port tuned to 35 hz Also planning to run a rockford 300x4 with soundqubed mids and highs. My car and specs 2003 pt cruiser hatchback non turbo Stock alternator will do big 3 if necessary Acdelco battery Max box demensions. Max length 20 Max width 40 Max height 26 Might be able to squeeze a bit more if needed Thanks in advance for any help or advice. If there re any more questions please ask I tried to cover as much as possible.
Masterbasser Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 2 15s. running that 1200 plus another 1200 from ur highs amp will be pushing it with stock alternator prolly tho. how many amps does ur stock alternator put out? Kenwood excelon ddx795 3 370 amp CES alternators (audio side only) McLaren dome tweeters Crescendo 6.5 ultra neos NVX JAD800.4 4 PA x4 SPL 18's 4 Digital Designs m5's at .7 ohms each 2 K2 80 ah lithiums 3 group 31 agms Ledglow million color (12 piece) 2007 Yukon xl
Yadaddy Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 Well the mid and high amp does 75 watts into 4 channels at 2 ohms. And I believe it's 100. At most 110
Masterbasser Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 damn 110 pretty low. that 1200 watt mono block prolly pulls roughly 100 amps itself. can always try it run a voltmeter n see where ya at. voltmeter cheap as hell jus get a stinger off ebay or sometin Kenwood excelon ddx795 3 370 amp CES alternators (audio side only) McLaren dome tweeters Crescendo 6.5 ultra neos NVX JAD800.4 4 PA x4 SPL 18's 4 Digital Designs m5's at .7 ohms each 2 K2 80 ah lithiums 3 group 31 agms Ledglow million color (12 piece) 2007 Yukon xl
Yadaddy Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 Well I'm definetely expecting massive voltage drop and I'm okay with that as long as it'll work for now. If my alternator dies after half a year of stress I'm okay with that. I can't find a HO alternator for my car anywhere. I would have to make some type of custom bracket for it.
Yadaddy Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 Thats actually a big reason I chose rockford over a budget brand like hifonics too. Because the efficiency would be much better and less stress on my electrical system.
ckeeler11 Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 Find a alternator shop in your area they should be able to up the amperage of your stock one for a lot cheaper than a mechman or stinger. It wont have the output at idle but would be better than nothing.
Bob Tzimenatos Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 You didn't mention a second battery, but should be a given. 1200w accointing for box rise is way underpowering a single HDC318. I would consider another amp and go with a single sub, 15 or 18 wired to 1ohm.
Yadaddy Posted April 13, 2016 Author Report Posted April 13, 2016 So you think a second battery and bigger amp On the hdc3? Hmm. I'm also now thinking about alphard since they're now in the us. And could possibly get loud with a 750 watt sub. Eye dunno. This is hard. Decisions decisions
RoadWarrior Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 I am not too familiar with installing a HO alt on a PT Cruiser but this one looks like its pretty much plug and play. You could call them to be sure if you decide you need one. http://www.mechman.com/alternators/chrysler/pt-cruiser/2-4l-turbo/2003-2005/
