akuma4u Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Hey i got an nvx 800 x4 jad amp 150 rms x 4 channels and i am running it on 4 crescendo 6.5 pro audio pwx speakers i believe they are called (they are rated for 150 rms each) my question is relating to the tuning on the amp. the amp has 2 LP and 2 HP buttons, when the button is depressed is x10 the frequencies when it is not pressed the frequencies remain the same. what i have found if that when i have the HP on the amp selected and the button is NOT pressed in and have the HP around 80-100hz, there is bass/midbass from the speakers but they do not go as loud. However, when the HP button is pressed (meaning x10 is activated) and i turn the HP all the way to the beginning which i believe is 20hz, the speakers get much louder , gain can be turned up higher, but there is less bass/midbass under 200 compared to when the button is not depressed. so my question is , should that x10 button for the HP be depressed or no? thank you
Robert8252 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 When the press the button you are multiplying the filtered frequency by 10. So if the amp says 20-100 and you press the button it is now 200-1000. So it just depends and what you are trying to run the speakers at. You likely don't want to press the hp filter since you want mid bass going to the speaker but will want to activate the 10x for the low pass of your bandwidth. Robert8252 Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 I added an extra zero before, but I'm too lazy to look up the speakers. Are they component speakers that also have a tweeter and crossover or are they just midrange speakers? If the amp is capable of making a band pass setting you would use hp and lp filters to get the correct range you want, if running mid and tweeter on each channel you would only want to use the hp filter. 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff

So i am using the HP filter. I hope thats right.
