dsw422
Hey guys.. so I'm about to build a box for a 2007 charger. It's for a custom RE audio xxx 15 with Ultra soft parts. The box I designed is too big to fit thru trunk and building in the trunk is not an option. so that means it needs to be a 2 piece box. I made a mock up 2 piece box out of cardboard and test fit in car. It fits but I'm not sure I like how it fits together. I made the 1strip section into an L shape which is mainly the port and back of the box.. the next piece is the main portion of the box. I was going to add a flange around the perimeter where each piece would meet and bolt together.. How does that sound to some of yall? Here's basically how I was thinking.. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
ShadeTreeMechanic
That is starting to sound like a puzzle. Maybe you could make it like a knock down box. So everything kind of locks together and would hold itself long enough for glue to dry maybe. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)

That's an idea but the box has to be removable.. when I get off I'll make a sketchup of how I would actually build it.. maybe it'll make more sense 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Triticum Agricolam
The problem with what you are wanting to do is making sure it won't leak. Any leaks at all KILL output from ported boxes. I think you are going to have a VERY hard time coming up with something that can still be taken apart but won't leak. My suggestion would be to sell the 15" and get two 12"s or two 10". They each get their own box and then the two boxes can join together into one in the trunk. Each box is its own self-contained system though so you won't have to worry about leaks. Thanks for ur suggestions but unfortunately the box is for a friend.. and trying to convince him to get 12s won't work.. lol.. I tried to convince him to do 2 6 inch aeros but he likes a slot port better.. I think the aeros would have been easier.. but oh well.. I like the challenge. I'll post a sketchup drawing tomorrow morning of what I think will work.. and I'll explain how I will make sure it'll be completely sealed (except for port?). 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Triticum Agricolam
Well good luck with your adventure. I know you are a clever guy and I'm sure you will come up with something. I'll be curious to see how it turns out! dsw422
Ok.. so here's the idea.. Ok.. so to mount the two together, there will be 1/4" t-nuts every 3 inches.. I'll run a bead of silicone along the whole flange. I'll only use 2 or 3 t-nuts to secure the opening of Port to the box just so there won't be no gap.. And of course the edges of the flange will be rounded over to help airflow.. What do yall think.. if u think it'll be good, I'll start cutting.. dsw422
Here's another way I could do it.. just unsure how to completely seal port connecting area, unless I cover whole box in maybe 1/2" mdf which would in turn. Seal the other flanges too.. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
