  1. Although I don't have much to add, I am curious as to what your resting voltage is when sitting overnight at low temperature with the truck off? As long as the batteries are charged, they shouldn't freeze. But with the high initial voltage, it makes me think that the amperage is near zero until the electrolyte "gets going". Almost like the higher voltage is the alternators unloaded voltage. As long as the battery cases don't start to bulge from excessive electrolyte outlasting, then I would say you are ok. Block heater on a gasoline motor? Yeah that's cold. I am not sure at what point a battery heater is needed.
  2. That has to be one heck of a voice coil!! The worst thing that happened was that it would trip the breaker.lol You should put it in a box and try it again to make some noise.Lol
  3. I have never used one of these but there should be a way to reduce the signal going into the meter. It might be possible to wire a 10k potentiometer in series to act as a coarse adjustment to get it in range and then adjust the meter as normal.
  4. Those a pillars look great, man you have been busy! I just need to find some time to work on my rig. lol
  5. It would work better if you can place it close to the amps.
  6. Sure square waves exist in recorded music but it is over the whole spectrum mixed with a multitude of other waves. The real question is when a driver has to reproduce a signal that is in a very narrow band and the signal is a very low frequency and it is clipped from the source, like the head unit is maxed out. What happens then? Sorry if I assumed the original question was aimed at the subwoofer usage. This is where people are most likely to run into problems.
  7. Ok so I am just trying to figure out where the logic for #1 comes from and where it went wrong. A sub coil is cooled by its movement, and moving less would cause more heat, along with more "power under the curve" causing more power to be disapated which can be hard on a coil. So at some high power level and low frequency that would lead us to believe that #1 is true?
  8. Here is a question for your question: If you played a 10hz square wave vs sine wave into your sub, which one would produce more heat?
  9. I would say one and two. One because as the driver is reproducing the clipped portion, it is not moving. Applying power without motion will cause overheating of the coil. Two because as in the previous condition, the driver is in effect overpowered due to reduced motion with power applied.
  10. Maybe they could do a gold plus or a platinum. Or an add on option. The way it is set up now, they just paid a boat load to update the site to what it is today. Maybe when they do the next update in ten years we will have the option. Or maybe the internet will be outdated by then and nobody will using it anymore. Lol
  11. I am beginning to think that I am the only one around here that still drinks..... half that growler was gone this morning, working on the other half and ready to get more. COME ON GUYS! Whatever you are drinking, post it up!
  12. Even with the 320 you might need a few more batteries. Get a good volt meter and hook it up to the amp inputs. With my system I can play 3 or four songs full tilt going down the road before it starts to get into the low 12 volts and then I turn it down to recharge to stay safe. The amperage goes up tremendously when you go below 12v. The 320 will surely help. Put the amps and volt meter in and see what it does. If you haven't done the big 3 that would be good too.
  13. Having more power on tap is a good thing so I would do two 3k strapped.
