Box shape ok?

Recommended Posts

Please excuse my lack of rendering skills. Im thinking of doing a box like this, it will sit on my back ex cab seat. Would be for 1-12. The measurements pictured are what I have to work with, I have no idea how to find the cu.ft of something like this. Any tips on that or anyone what to give me the number? It will be 14" wide by the way. I did try to do it and came up with 3.5 cu.ft, but am probably wrong.

Also, will the shape hurt me at all having the extra "leg" going down to the floor? I figured I would do that for more volume and use the front for an amp rack.

Lastly, I want it to be ported but not sure where I should run the port? Maybe along the back wall (18.5") facing upward? I know the port, sub and mdf thickness will change the volume but Im just trying to get an idea of where I am at. I could bump up to around 18" wide if I need too.

Any help would be appreciated....dont worry, no vs questions :)

You could probably seal off the leg, but keep it there if you want to use it as an amp rack. If you want some extra volume, get rid of the angle and make the sub/port fire forward. I have tried about every sub position in my truck and have had very little luck with firing upward. Forward firing has been the best, by far.
