gobassheadz Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 Hello all, new here but have lurked a good bit. I looked as much as I could but couldn't really find too much info about the amp in question. I'm just running one Pioneer TSW3003D4 12" in a small sealed box that is approx. .9 cu.ft. , so not quite ideal but almost. Upgrading from a Kenwood 5001 mono 500W @ 2Ohm. I burned it up some how along with my Infinity 1262, I'm guessing needing better ground / electrical so I will be addressing that. But for my application I know I don't want more than 600W RMS @ 2 Ohm so I'm thinking of trying a new brand to me. Think for my usage it will be a fine contender? I also have a Soundstream nano picasso 650W to use or a Zues 516.2 Hifonics. Am I making a bad choice wanting to try Sound Magus? Just don't find much on them as far as the DK1200 goes. Thanks to all for their time and appreciate any opinions. Oh, and yes, trying to stay within stock electrical setup of an 02 Eclipse so I am keeping in mind it can't handle much more than 900W / 70 amps or there about, from what I can tell without doing batts etc / something, Am I wrong?

gobassheadz Posted May 16, 2016 Author Report Posted May 16, 2016 Thanks for the bit of info, didn't know it was their brand as aside from them only places I could find it was a couple NZ sites and Aus. sites. And no one is referring to it badly yet so that's a plus. Went ahead and ordered it, figured for $200 why not give it a shot. I have to track down my electrical issue though, just found out in one day my Zeus and my temporary Pioneer TS-W304R are now burnt too, hhmmm, I'm pulling a 13v from DMM when I check wiring though, maybe it's really dirty under load.
reedal Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 Oh no, never mind. What I said was wrong. 4 in the morning forum browsing is bad. I confused my thoughts with THEIR amps. Sound magus is just a brand that they recently picked up for distribution, not actually THEIR amp brand. My apologies. reedal Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 Amp does rated power, so you'll get your 600w @ 2ohms. Before you buy any other equipment or blow anything else, you should figure out what's wrong. What are you using to set the gain on the amp to make sure you're not clipping? That's one place to start. Second, where are you grounding your amp at? gobassheadz Posted May 16, 2016 Author Report Posted May 16, 2016 I'm thinking it's gotta be my gain, I don't actually have anything specific I'm using to set it, just listening close for the obvious thrashing. As far as my ground goes I thought I had it at an ok place but I don't think it's getting enough after this last issue cropping up. The problem I seem to be running into is the Eclipse is a convertible so not huge options for great close grounds. Another funny thing is I pulled the Kenwood amp apart and I actually don't see anything inside burnt or cooked, not even a smell but even with new fuses it doesn't power up. Hmmm, gotta be an open somewhere.Just using some 4S LiPos to test power on. Won't lie I used to dabble with this stuff like 20 years ago and never did have an issue with any of my builds for me or friends and family, come back 20 years and I can't seem to get anything going right. The core fundamentals have stayed the same so not sure where I'm missing what but missing something I am. Thanks for the input, do appreciate that. Guess I may need a new thread before I burn my car down on proper grounding etc.
