jwalker28 Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 I need some help designing the best box for my two DC Audio XLM2 12's... I have no problem donating a little $$ for a good design but I need it to come from someone who has made a name for them self in the car audio world... Car is a 2015 Chevy Malibu Subs: (2) DC Audio XLM2 12's Amp: Sundown SAZ3000 (soon to be a Crescendo BC5500D) Max measurements: 21 High, 39 wide, and 29 deep This is what I've come up with so far, any input would be great!!
Triticum Agricolam Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 You are going to be putting a lot of power to those subs, so you are going to need a pretty large amount to port area to keep port velocities reasonable. The hard part is fitting a enough port area while keeping tuning where you want with a smaller box. At least you have lots of space in your trunk to work with. I would suggest you use no less than 70 sq in of port area. jwalker28 Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 So how would that work out being that the subs only need 1.5 cubic feet a piece?? jwalker28 Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 In order to make it work let me make sure I understand the port will go back in the box 13.25 then have the L go 28.75 to make up the full 42 inches correct? Here is a suggestion:
Triticum Agricolam Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Yup, that's right. ETA: the thickness of the back panel is going to subtract from the length of the port running from front to back. The port will run 14.625 back from the front, and then 27.375 to the side. All measurements are taken down the centerline of the port. jwalker28 Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 Thanks I'm gone start on it this weekend Yup, that's right. jwalker28 Posted June 11, 2016 Author Report Posted June 11, 2016 Ok I had to make a few adjustments because I needed to have room on top to mount the amps, what do you think about this And I figured my port cut sheet would be something like 14.25x29.75 to make up the full 43 Yup, that's right. Triticum Agricolam Posted June 13, 2016 Report Posted June 13, 2016 That looks fine to me. "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:
