General Question About Electrical

So I am just curious about something. Lets say you have a HO alt but you don't have a system added to it. What happens to the excess power? I'm asking this because I am planning on putting a system in my truck but piece by piece and before I get the subs/mids & highs/amps, I was wondering if I could go ahead and upgrade my alt/bat along with the big 3/4 before i put the system in. Would having a bunch of excess power damage my vehicle's electrical or would it be okay? I am planning on doing the big x upgrade first then the alt and then the bat.

It should be fine. I have my XS D6500 and a mechman 240 in already before my amps are in. The alternator should only generate what your electrical asks for as far as I know. The only issue I had was my car forgot my key fob and I had to resync it. Not sure how that happened but it was a quick fix.

I was just curious. I really don't know squat about alts and how they work really (besides the absolute basics). I just want to ensure that if I do this I won't accidentally fry anything. The last I want to do is pay more money to fix something because I was being dumb.

You will be fine.

So there are no real side affects of upgrading the electrical before hand assuming you do everything right?

I mean, you gonna drive around full tilt all the time when you get your system?

Think it through, think it through. You can do it

Hey man, I was just asking a question because I didn't know if it made a difference if I had the equipment in there or not when I upgraded the electrical. No need to be rude about it. I would rather ask what seems like a dumb question to you than to fry something by accident or even worse cause a fire because I just assumed I knew what I was doing.

It was condescending. My point was that if I upgrade everything but still only ran stock devices until I could get everything else for the build, if it would damage anything. Apparently it doesn't matter so thank you for your response and fantastic insight.
