Long story short i have a crew cab f150 with 2 12" type rs in a box tuned to about 32-33hz. The subs have about 1.8-1.9 cubic feet each downfiring and i have a soundqubed 2200 powering them. Ive got a high output alternator (mechman 250 amp) coming in this week or next and im planning on selling the type rs if anyone wants them. So im looking for new subs that will handle about 1000w each daily and do well in the box i have described. American Bass is headquartered about 20 minutes from my house so i was looking at their xfl 12s.. i have about 400 to spend so if theres better out there for that price ill go for them instead.. or if the subs wont make that big of a difference ill put the money towards an amp for my mids and highs (going to do that later on regardless)

So how come you are going away from the Alpines? What aspect are you looking to improve on with different subs?

How much port area does your box have?

Im not even sure im buying new subs, i might be happy with the output of my type rs once i get my new alternator. But its only a matter of time till one of them dies. My friend kicked it once back when i only was running one of them and knocked a hole in the surround and broke the basket. I fixed both but im pretty sure i was running it with some heavy clipping for a while on my old amp

Sounds good. I just was curious.

Since you are staying on the same power and using the same box, I wouldn't expect too much of a performance difference with different subs, if you decide to change them out.

Alright, i just thought that because the type rs have a relitivley low sensativity that there would be an increase in going to the XFLs, which have a sensativity almost 5db higher

Unfortunately subwoofer sensitivity numbers are pretty much meaningless. There is no standardized power level to measure them at, they are usually done free-air and at 1 kHz. I wouldn't even consider that spec at all when comparing different subwoofers.
