ThePilot Posted July 13, 2016 Report Posted July 13, 2016 Forgive me..this is probably gonna be a stupid question..I have a single 12 mounted on top of the box with port facing rear of trunk..the sub itself is mounted on the left side,not in the middle,and it's directly under the left side deck speaker (6x9) with about 2-3 " clearance .there's no other orientation possible.my question is this: will the magnet hurt the sub or the sub kill the 6x9 above it? I know some peeps would just delete the rear speakers all together,just running good power components up front,but I'm used to rear fill..I'm not running much power,will it be ok? Building a new box so the port and sub are on the same side and then facing them both back may improve performance though. ThePilot Posted July 13, 2016 Author Report Posted July 13, 2016 Yeah,the original plans,drawn up by JoeX,had the sub same side as the port (facing back)..I used the cut sheet from those plans but I'm guessing the plans were intended for a 10..I already had almost a full sheet of 3/4 mdf from a previous build so I went with it,not realizing the sub wouldn't fit the front face til it was time to cut out the sub.
