dsw422
Does the old sub plate amp have another sub output on it? Maybe the front speakers are turned off somehow? It doesnt... neither does the new sub... And I'm still going thru the manual trying to figure this thing out. So I'll see if there is a way to turn them on.. if not, I'll be opening it up.. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
dsw422
So you had the subs connected through a Y splitter to the sub out on your receiver and they are getting a full range signal? Weird. I do.. it's not necessary a full range signal. It plays very low, but plays frequencies similar to my speakers. By that I mean I hear people talking thru the sub.. I have yet to play a frequency sweep to see how high it goes. I'm watching a movie now. So I'll try a sweep after to see what it does.. 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
dsw422
Ok.. did a frequency test for just the subs up to 300 hz. I did this test twice each sub hooked up individually at at time to hear how each perform.. First test is old sub.... It didn't make a sound till 30 hz. Peaked around 55 to 60 hz. Continued to play up to 300 hz but very faint even on 3/4 volume.. Second test new sub Started playing at 15 hz. Peaked around 45 to 50 hz. Continued to play up to 300 hz and much louder than other sub. I'm guessing the way the new sub box is made it keeps it pretty loud unlike my custom (thrown together) old sub box.. Is there any way I could stop frequencies past 200 hz to play? 2014 Ford Focus SE Sedan Factory Sony 10 Speaker Sound System 1994 Ford Bronco Dual head unit (i kno) Sony door speakers Kenwood Rear Speakers Custom Center console in the works. will house an NVX NSW10" https://m.facebook.com/WinnsCustomCarAudio/
Krakin
That's the issue with a variety of speakers trying to do the same job. You may have a low-pass filter on the plate amp to determine cut-off frequency. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
