It's a Sony STR-K740P.. all i had to do was unhook my old surround reciever and speakers then rehook it up.. only difference this time, I now have 2 subwoofers since I kept my old subwoofer. The old sub is a kicker powered by a plate amp and is directly behind the tv so the rca cable is only like 3 feet long. The other sub is across the room about 15 feet of rca cable away. It runs directly next to the right surround speaker wire.. Problem is, the new sub is playing almost all the same notes the speakers play. Is this because the rca is next to the speaker wire? The rca cable I am using is very thick (about 3/8 inch). There should nowhere enough current from one RCA to interfere with another, never mind if it did it should be canceled out if it's a twisted pair or has simple noise filtering in the amp. The rca is a single cable that starts at the reciever that I used a y cable to split so I could run both subs. The rca is then run from the y to the sub. Here is the long run cable I am using.. I'd unplug everything except the offending subwoofer and see if the problem still exists. If it's gone start plugging stuff back in. I unplugged everything except the sub and it still did it.. so it seems ShadeTreeMechanic is right that it has a different crossover point.. Is there a way I could lower it? I also just found out that my front channel speakers aren't playing.. I'm gonna open up my reciever to see if anything is burnt up inside.
