Mikey Bates
Hey everyone. I have had some experience building basic sealed and ported boxes. I have an old set of alpine type R 10s laying around. Heres the closest I can get to sub specs.https://www.crutchfield.com/S-llkiOWps1ws/p_500SWR1041/Alpine-SWR-1041D.html?tp=111&tab=features_and_specs My sister ordered some sundown amps and some sweet hertz speaker and shes waiting to pick up something like an Fi Q Neo but until then I figured maybe we could so something fun with the Type Rs. She has plenty of room to do a 4th or 6th order for the pair of 10s but Im not sure if a box like that would really be effective for the type Rs. Ive tried to do a bit of research on tuning and box size and have some info but dont wanna go building a box for bad results. Can anyone shed some light on whether these subs would benifit on a 4th or 6th order and if so How I would go about figure out box specs and such. Thanks for the help! hdorre
The QTS and EBP show that this driver prefers 6th orders. Before we start talking about box specs, how much space does she have available? Mikey Bates
A good bit of space. about 35" wide, no more that 30" tall. preferably closer to 20" and around 60" deep. This is all rough. I think the width can be wider but on the safe side. Also how can you tell the specs vote 6th order? can you explain?
hdorre
She has a metric fuck ton of room. Wow! EBP = fs/qes. ~60 and up is 6th order territory. Now for QTS (its one of the listed T/S specs)... .5 and below is generally 6th territory as well. With that being said, of course there are exceptions. Mikey Bates
So how can I go about designing a box? Ive tried to use some calculators but the specs wont work for some reason. What does everyone else use and how can I figure that out
