Oldbasshead Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Hey People....I will soon be the proud owner of the SAZ 1500D!! I am wanting to get your advice on how to properly power the amp. I currently have a Buick LeSabre with the stock 105 amp alternator. I've done the BIG 3 with 4 gauge wire. I also have 4 gauge running to my trunk.....It then goes into a capicator and then to a distro block where I have it going to a 2 channel 300 Watt Denon amp and also what will now be the SAZ 1500D.....I'm pretty sure that I will be starving the amp for power....SO...My question is budget related. How can I give the SAZ enough power the cheapest way??? Can I run another 8 guage power wire and just use it for my 2 channel and leave the 4 gauge just for the SAZ...I'd really hate to pull out the 4 gauge and re-run a 1/0 gauge if I don't have to.....I'll be running it at 1 ohm so it'll be pulling a lotta amps.....NOTE: I am not planning on entering any SPL comps and my wife barely let me get this amp so my budget is truly VERY Low.... This is my first post too! Yippee!!! 2000 Buick Park Avenue Kenwood HU Eclipse Components 4 Sundown SA 10's Sundown 3500 Sundown 100.4 Mechman Alternator
EricR Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 if your gonna be runnin it at 1 ohm, i would take out the 4 awg and do a run of 0 awg. also do big 3 in 0 awg. and if your going to keep the fac alt at least get a decent battery up front. my 02. i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
Team Nemesis-DJ Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Prolly not what you wanna hear ...but you need to pull out the 4 and put in some 1/0 . and upgrade you big 3 ..or just leave the 4 and run another 1/0 and if it was me ,i would lose the cap .and look into a extra battery..theres a few options out there ...I have a friend in the atl area that can help you out ...just shot me a pm ...ill get you intouch with him ..

I think he said it perfect. At least 1/0 power wire and a good battery up front o properly power this amplifier.

Okay...I think I'm convinced it's time to run some 1/0 gauge wire....Now...Where's the cheapest place to buy an amp kit with 0/1 gauge? Knukonceptz?? eBay? I've read some posts where people say just get some welding wire from a local welding supply? thoughts??? 2000 Buick Park Avenue Kenwood HU Eclipse Components 4 Sundown SA 10's Sundown 3500 Sundown 100.4 Mechman Alternator

Derrick824 Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Good deal on that wire. I was gonna say check Ebay. You can find some good Rockford and Kicker 1/0 amp kits for $90.
