Advice on tuning in Speakers

Recommended Posts

What's going on guys, I've been out of the game for quiet some time and could use some help with a current build I decided to do in the Ranger. The setup list is as follows

Front Component set- https://www.amazon.com/Hertz-HSK-Hi-Energy-Component-Speaker/dp/B001KOYXGC

Amp to power the Front Components- https://www.skaraudio.com/products/rp-75-4ab

34hz Enclosure with a Skar VVX-V2 10''-  https://www.skaraudio.com/collections/vvxv2-series/products/vvx-10v2?variant=18742737025

Powering the Sub- https://www.skaraudio.com/products/rp-800-1

I'm currently running the 4ch in the full range mode running off two channels (60wrms and letting the passive crossover do it's thing. Unfortunately I do notice on certain songs the woofer likes to get a little to low.. do I need to be setting a HPF even though I already have the passive crossover in place? Perhaps once I get that dialed in I can bridge the amp and get some more power out of the speakers being that they are rated at 125wrms.

I have the Sub at 80HZ HPF and 25ish SSF running a 1 ohm load. I know most of this is preference but I'd like any advice you guys can give. I'm just trying to dial everything in and get the best SQ out of this setup as I can without going overly overboard

Edit- Unfortunately it won't allow me to correct the bottom half of this page, I would just like to add in that they are running off two channels at 60wrms @ 4 ohms.

Check out my build log:

Generally you dont want your mids from a 2-way setup playing too low. With a setup like that you might have better luck experimenting with 80/24db or 125/12db hpf. Prevent your front stage from bottoming out, distortion ect then tune your woofer to fill in the rest.
